Individual Counseling

Seeking help to deal with anxiety, depression, grief, or other life stresses is on the of the most difficult decisions a person can make. Individual counseling can help you explore the origin of your feelings and help you develop new skills and new insights to help you cope with the ups and downs of life.

Each of our therapists seeks to create a warm, emotionally safe environment so you can really delve into your experiences and feelings and figure out what's working in your life and what's not. We provide a nurturing atmosphere where you can reveal your deepest fears, traumas, and shame safe from judgement and ridicule.

Adolescent Counseling (Ages 10-18)

For kids and teens: The teenage years are difficult. You no longer want or need the constant care of adults. You're trying to figure out who you are and where you fit in the world. It's okay to need to support to figure that out.

At Annie's Counseling, we want you to know that your privacy is protected, even from your parents/guardians. Your therapist will explain the limitations of privacy with your therapy so you'll know that you can trust us with your secrets.

For parents/guardians: We understand kids. We know the difference between normal parent/teen conflict and a kid that needs additional support navigating adolescence.

When kids enter treatment, often they share things with us that need to stay private to create an emotionally safe environment. We will reach out in cases where the child's safety is at risk. Your teen's therapist will explain the privacy rules prior to the first appointment.

Areas of expertise for our therapists include:

  • Anxiety

  • Body image disorders

  • Depression, bipolar disorder, and other mood disorders

  • Low self esteem

  • Personality disorders

  • Substance use

Family and Couples Counseling

For couples: Sometimes couples stop working. You remember when your relationship felt easy, but now everything is just so hard. Now you're not even sure if you recognize the person you wake up next to in the morning. Relationships are tested through a variety of pressures: feeling overburdened by work and home responsibilities, infidelity, shared loss, conflicts over different values, or poor communication. Any of those can erode the foundation of a relationship.

It's not too late. Through couples counseling you can improve and strengthen your relationship by addressing problems in communication and learning how to rebuild your love and connection.

For families: A family can be the family you are born into, marry into, or create. It can include parents, brothers, sisters, children, friends, and lovers. Whatever your family is, maybe you find yourselves no longer functioning as a unit. It happens and it will be okay. Just sitting down with a therapist indicates love and concern for the family and hope that the family can heal. We will help you improve communication and help you figure out what's working for your family and what's not.
