My style of counseling is eclectic. I am certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, well-versed in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, trained in psychodrama and other expressive art modalities, educated about Adlerian methods in graduate school, perform trauma-informed care, and practice affirmative counseling. However, I tailor the counseling treatment to your needs and preferences. I believe that counseling should help people become more comfortable with uncomfortable thoughts, emotions, and situations. Therefore, preventing people from using toxic coping and avoidance mechanisms. 

Primarily, I have worked in hospital and clinical settings with people with co-occurring mental health diagnoses, often overlapping with substance concerns. After discharge from the hospital, people were often unable to obtain cost-efficient, available aftercare. I believe that counseling should be easily accessible for all. 

Just like Annie, the namesake of our counseling service, I enjoy comforting and caring for others without judgment or disrespect. I earned my bachelor’s degree at the University of North Texas and my master’s degree at Southern Methodist University, but the majority of my skills I acquired through life experiences and by learning from others more experienced than myself. 

Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all treatment, neither is it a miracle cure. If I had the power, I would magically erase all your problems, heartaches, worries, and past hurts. Unfortunately, I do not have that ability. You, however, have the strength to challenge your fears and change your reality to one that is more satisfying. Since you visited this website, I know you are courageous enough to admit that you need a little help. That is one of the hardest things for most of us to do. My goal as a therapist is to provide you education and support so you that can live a life driven by your values - not your anxieties or traumas. I offer evidenced based therapy to help clients who feel stuck. I approach therapy from a strengths-based, solution focused philosophy drawn from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and the principles of Health at Every Size (HAES).

In my practice, I collaborate with adults to help them develop the skills of self-compassion and self-kindness so they can work toward accomplishing the goals in their life rather than waiting for perfection.

I completed my Master of Social Work and became a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in 2017. I am under the supervision of Erica Baig (LCSW-S) for my clinical license. I am also a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC).

Rhonda Boatright, MA, LPC, EXPAT

I have 30 years of counseling experience, which includes a time period of being a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and managing various clinics. For the past 15 years, I have been counseling United States Marine Corps, Army, and Air Force members and their families. My background as an Expressive Art Therapist who is trauma-informed has allowed me to better serve members of our country’s military and civilians. Also, I’m well-acquainted with couples therapy and have training in Imago therapy. I enjoy working with couples, and would be glad to help you and your partner or partners.
